Level: Beginner / Simple English Reading Lesson: A Busy Saturday
Age: Teenagers
Reading
Maya is fourteen years old. She lives with her parents and her younger brother, Adam. On
Saturdays, Maya usually wakes up at eight o’clock. She has breakfast with her family, and then
she cleans her room. Last Saturday was different. Maya wanted to spend the day with her best
friend, Sara. They met at a small café near the park. They talked, laughed, and drank orange
juice. After that, they walked to the park. The weather was sunny, so many people were outside.
Maya and Sara played basketball for an hour. They were tired, but they had fun. At three o’clock,
they went to the library. Maya wanted to find a book about animals. Sara chose a mystery book.
They stayed in the library for about an hour. In the evening, Maya went home. She helped her
mother make dinner. After dinner, she finished her homework and watched a short movie with
her brother. Maya was tired at the end of the day, but she was happy because she had a great
Saturday.
